I should be proud of what I'm doing.

But as I sit here and watch the clock count down to time to go to work I just feel like I want to be retired. But I'm 40, so it's back to work and back to school. Out the door at 5:30 AM, back in at 5 PM then school. I've got a test this week in one class and a midterm exam in another.

When I was 20, I had endless energy and no brains. Now that I'm 40, I'm intelligent but my energy is waning. Maybe I just need a vacation.

When we're young we waste a lot of our energy needlessly because we don't use it optimally. When we're older we learn to channel it in much smarter ways. But think of it this way, the mental energy we channel as we get older is far more productive. Just learn to pace yourself so that you aren't expending too much physical energy.

Take vitamin B-1 for mental acuity. You can get it at any drugstore and it's cheap and it keeps your mental energy going longer at peak performance.

Growing old isn't for the cowardly. Soldier on old man!

By the way, I'm 64 and I think everyone has a life crisis of some sort when they're in their early 40s. It's reflected exactly in what you're saying. It's the realization of aging and it it's called the mid life crisis. It's especially tough in our society where youth is worshipped.

But I hear you on wishing you were retired. I know I wish it, even though I also thank the Godesses and whatever else is available every day that I have the best job for me at this time. Vacations are good.

Sometimes that's really all it takes to recharge your depleted batteries.

We ALL get tired. You, my friend, are Iron Man... and it sounds like you're despairing because
you're not Superman.

Sounds like he has burn-out and needs to recharge the cells.

Try to do something that will stimulate the other side of the brain. It feels neglected.
