I saw one yesterday standing tall on the frozen lake. When I came back by about 10 minutes later, he was gone. Darn.

They come in a group to feed on the bugs and one always keeps a lookout for the others...The males have a red 'comb'..,
The subdivision I lived in for the first 12 years here in FL would see them regularly...and they bring traffic to a full stop when they take their leisurely time crossing the road!
