informal poll on Facebook

"useful" or not ? To me it is in a very trivial way. I know others talk to family members and friends with it.

It's great to keep up with friends and family who are scattered all over the world, good source of selected bits of information (but most of the politics I find on there I can also find on DU - with more substantial comments and discussions), and hell, who doesn't like a good cat or dog graphic to make you smile?

However, from a sociological stand point, from a democracy-based, bigger picture standpoint, it's a freaking Orwellian nightmare of privacy invasion and personal data collection.
