Sundance channel at 7 CDT.
I read the trilogy, but it's been so long since I read the first one that I've forgotten a lot about it.
Did you see it?
Good-bad-OK?

I saw the original dubbed in English and thought it was the better of the two. The rest of the trilogy is great too.

The Swedish version was pretty good as well - I saw the extended version trilogy on Netflix with subtitles.

(37,648 posts)of the men who have mentioned this movie to me. It's the scene where the violence is focused on the man. I guess men find that uncomfortable because they're not used to seeing men be the victims of that kind of violence. But it's the exact violence (and even less so) than the violence that had been perpetrated on the female lead earlier in the movie. Which was the point of the violence against the man...payback (in addition to protection from further violence).

(30,994 posts)That scene is one of the great retribution scenes ever filmed.
You ought to hang around with a better class of men.

(56,828 posts)the scene that I found most disturbing was when Bjurman raped Lisbeth. When she took her revenge, I thought it was more humorous that she tattooed him with the thing about being a sadistic pig, pervert & rapist. If it were written by an American, she would have spouted a one-liner and blown his head off.

(28,264 posts)The Swedish films of the two other books in the series are also very good---but it's the "Dragon Tattoo" flick that is really special. Enjoy.

Haven't read any of the books.

(12,041 posts)David Fincher is one of the best directors working today and he did an amazing job setting the mood for the film, the American version also followed the book more closely than the Swedish version did. I think a lot of people automatically oppose remakes and while there certainly have been a lot of bad remakes in the past, there are also some good ones out there and each film should be judged on its own merits. In the case of The Girl With the Drago Tattoo I thought the Swedish version was a huge disappointment that did not measure up to the book, but the American version really captured what I wanted to see in the movie.

(28,394 posts)I preferred the Swedish film to the American one. I just liked the Swedish actress better than Rooney Mara.

(22,720 posts)Then saw all three Swedish movies. Fantastic. Don't really care to see the American version. The Swedish actress was incredible.

(37,648 posts)It was absolutely terrific! I ran out and bought the book. An unusual movie. Very violent in parts, but for once (and this is true), the sex and violence really was necessary for the plot and character development. It explains some things, so the audience has to see at least part of the violence.
I highly recommend it. If you like movies, and if you can tolerate disturbing violence. Don't mean to imply the violence is worse than in some other films, but violence disturbs some people.
The foreign one also has subtitles, which I have no problem with.
I didn't see the Daniel Craig one, though I can imagine him in the lead male role.

(10,952 posts)mini-series and are available in a total of 6 parts on Netflix. This version has extra scenes that were not part of the theatrical release. I like them. I have also read all three books. I thought that each book got better then the previous one. My absolute favorite book was the last book which is a fantastic good vs evil story line and you wonder if the good guys will conquer over the bad guys.
