at the start of their set they were having monitor problems. During the time it took the techs to get things working Alvin launched into a solo jam lasting some ten minutes or so, it was great.

Several months ago, I heard he might be touring and was really hoping he'd come someplace nearby so I could finally see him. Maybe the "routine surgical procedure" was something he wanted to take care of before he hit the road .

I think my Freshman room mate and I (in 1970) did that with the Sssh album . Loved this song.

he was fabulous. They were the headliner.

The opening act was Robin Trower.

The middle act was King Crimson.

Just awesome.

They just don't put on concerts anymore with three major excellent acts on them.
The 70s were something great for rock.

I'm old..... How old am I?

So old that I saw STYX when they were an Opening Act.

Middle act:Climax Blues Band

Headliner: BTO.

. I saw Savoy Brown one year ago in a bar in Pgh. Got to talk with Kim Simmonds after the show and thank him for all the joy his music has brought me. Wish I had the chance to do that with Alvin Lee....he was an awesome guitarist.

At least you have a memory! I have a hard time remembering who played with who...tickets were $5.00 for three or four bands!

from us than it is giving to us. All part of the eternal cycle.

And, sadly, the passage of this truly gifted musician is part of the taking.

RIP Alvin.

Thanks for the riffs.

I saw them last year at a bar in Pgh.....only saw them one other time and that was on my college campus in 1972.

Do you remember the concert? Alvin Lee was definitely one of my favorites, after Hendrix.
