(19,379 posts)It was a great game. The Saints played hard but the Niners were just awesome!

(19,379 posts)Outstanding game, just a stellar defensive performance by the Niners made the difference.

(24,721 posts)You are so full of class. I was devastated in the Saints' slow start, but they gave it a good try. The 49ers were better, though, & deserved the win.
At this point, I'm just hoping we can keep Drew Bries. His contract comes up next season.

(19,379 posts)When the Saints came back with 14 in the first half I knew it was going to be a fight, and it certainly turned out to be one!
I don't see Brees leaving. The Saints are a great organization and he's a big part of their success. Plus from everything I've heard he's very happy in and commited to the community.

(24,721 posts)I'm worried that he might be tempted if a team with more money to spend tries to lure him away.

(16,327 posts)Saints really made the Niners work for that win. This San Franciscan is a happy camper tonight.

(47,187 posts)I can't believe they had everyone up on the line and gave away the long pass play.
They also screwed up on the quarterback run play around the end.

(5,849 posts)But I decided to watch the 49ers-Saints game today, and was not disappointed! In fact, that had to have been the most exciting game I have ever watched.
I heard the announcers talking about some new rule where each team gets an opportunity to score in the event that overtime is required. I didn't know about that one.
And why did the 49ers coach call a time-out with three seconds to play? I don't think the announcers ever mentioned the reason.

(19,379 posts)The new OT rule is only applicable to the playoffs. Basically it gives each team a possession - no sudden death except in the event the fist team to possess the ball scores a touchdown as Denver did last week.

(25,453 posts)Even if the Saints had won, there was no way we were going to beat Green Bay next week with the kind of turnovers we had tonight or even the ones we had last week against Detroit.

(8,419 posts)I thought they would fold after the first 10 minutes. The 49er defense was just punishing them and continued to punish Brees throughout the game. But they settled down and took every hit. Don't think the Saints had a penalty in the entire game.
