says they are going to use Real Player for streaming. I thought...WHAT? I used to use them and didn't have a problem but my computer crashed this time last year and had to redo...and never really reinstalled it.

So...what are tips on something BESIDES "I-Tunes?" (I don't like I-Tunes..and I can't explain why...but want alternative that isn't crap)

Thanks!...

What I read about "Real Player" was that it was a HOG for internet resources. I never heard anything about the spyware stuff...but then what player doesn't use SPYWARE these days? Sort of a badge of honor or something.

I just wondered what you all use that you feel is better than Real Player and isn't "I-Tunes."

Is there something? I've never used Win Media Player because I don't like Microsoft...but, I'm not a techie and many of you are and I've gotten good tips here on DU for the CLUELESS like me. But, I'm not stupid...just not a techie like many of you...which is why I'm asking.. Just need some alternatives for streaming my Smooth Jazz Fix.

There are several choices but I use the "Full" rather than standard or basic version.

Don't use windoze though, just Linux. Just make it your default player.

BTW, if you want good theatre and "audio movies" that you can listen to while
doing other things online, OTR is fantastic -- and I've not found any sites that
come within the same solar system as this one:

I recommend "Gunsmoke" and "Father Knows Best" to start -- and then have
fun exploring!!!

It used to be so pervasive, but somehow it quietly slipped away unnoticed into the night. I had no idea it was still out there.
