I found a disposable camera in Monterey, California. No pictures of people, nothing remarkable, just pictures of this city and Monterey.
I'm not feeling too bad for the person who lost it, and judging by the shape the camera was in, it was lost a long time ago.
Sometimes I get old film developed for fun... and always cross my fingers that there will be no pictures I have to explain to the police.

(38,327 posts)The negative isn't much better, just fuzzier looking.
Costco does pretty good scans, these are 3088 X 2048, which I'm guessing is pretty close to the resolution of the camera.

(14,478 posts)That seems to be the film grain emerging. I think you're right about the mix of latin and logograms/pictograms which suggests somewhere like Shanghai or Hong Kong (Especially the latter given the hills), but I can't place the scene...

You'd think an international tourist would take pictures that could be immediately identified. But no, the Monterey pictures are just as odd. No Cannery Row or Monterey Bay Aquarium, no Fisherman's wharf...

(38,327 posts)Just from movies and travel mags and stuff it was looking like that to me.
The Billboard looks like a mix of English and Chinese if you squint your eyes. I see "Body by..." and then some Chinese text. But I could be wrong.

(38,327 posts)The building construction picture I posted is the The Hanoi Road high rise project.
Judging by the rate of construction, the Hong Kong pictures are a few years old.

Oh dear, this was fun! It's not as if I needed further incentive to visit out of the way places and kick through random piles of litter.
