(10,039 posts)They're old, musty and they're in a cedar chest and a box. Not many and it's not actually my collection. If you can call it that. I definitely have more other media than records, but I also live by a (walkable) record store. So, there might be a growth of records to have.

(2,173 posts)On the plus side, I scored a lot of records from their "book" sales at an annual festival for something like a dollar a paper grocery store (when they're closing up for the weekend). Most of what I've gotten that way will likely never make it to electronic form.

(18,101 posts)I never use them and my wife is on me every once in a while to get rid of them. I prefer the digital music, but I love the old album art. My daughter uses some of them as wall decorations. Her and some of her friends are into vinyl and I've given them a few of my albums.

(12,132 posts)Vinyl is cool. I collected a couple record crate fulls up into the 80s and then switched to CD. I've recently decided that CDs have no soul so I my last couple and all my future purchases will be vinyl if it is available.
I used to love the ceremony of playing a record. I had this record cleaning device that used some type of cleaner and I would carefully spin the thing around the record and then play it and then clean it again and put it away. During the listening I would read the liner notes if there were any and, hopefully the lyrics. I guess I'm gonna need to get a new cleaner thingy. I have a record player but no receiver to hook it up to yet. I plan on getting a good home theater system and hook a computer and the record player up. Will probably do some vinyl to mp3 transfers for carrying music in the car but I may not have to on new releases as they are often coming with coupons for free digital downloads of the albums.
Hooray! Vinyl!

(8,462 posts)I have a friend who has a laser record player. So he can play the shattered 78's in his collection. Not sure if it's this company or not though:
