Hathaway ask: Why does the speaker keep insisting that his name is Will?

That Shakespeare's wife, Anne Hathaway, was the fabled "Dark Lady" of the Sonnets. I've known about the pun on Hathaway's name for years. And the Sonnets make it obvious that the writer is ambivalent about his feelings toward her.

But I had always assumed that the Dark Lady was a woman, possibly noble or aristocratic, whom Shakespeare had met in London early in his career. And/or the third person in a love-triangle between Will and the young man to whom the Sonnets are addressed.

Thanks for posting that, I_T_W!

In my journal page 6 today
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=journals&uid=168660&page=6
was this information about the Dark Lady.

via this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1018&pid=322888

is this ~ Sonnet 18.

Last night after saying G'night several times I spent almost two hours listening to music, full length movies, listening to Shakespeare. It's what I do instead of watching TV.

If I were to pick a name for myself for the remainder of my life it would be:

Hathaway

A day that is fateful and makes you cry inside. Can be getting embarrased, getting busted, having somebody find out something they shouldn't know, or something else. Repracussions can include suspensions or even losses of friendships, loss of facebook quotes, and other things. Effects of fateful days can be felt even months after they occur.

Any day can be the ides of March. Maybe teach us to heed a warning.

And I live in San Francisco. You'd think there'd be at least one or two in The Haight, but NO! I've even stopped sending out CAVE IDES MARTIUS cards because no one ever reciprocates. Sad, sad, sad.

But one must plod on.
