A fundy cousin's response to my Facebook post.

I shared this:

She commented:

"I pray God's will be done, in Jesus' name."

She knows I'm a lesbian and she knows I'm married to the woman I've been with for 13 years. I really do wonder what she hopes will happen. This comment doesn't mean she hopes we're screwn in SCOTUS.

If she's a nice sort of fundie, she may feel it's not up to her to judge what's right and she's hoping that God's will prevails, whatever that may be? I mean, that's what a moderate, mainstream kind of Protestant would mean if they were to say that.

I saw a friend post about her daughter, who'd taken a nasty spill on her bike, nearly broke her jaw and had a good dozen or so stitches.

What did her fundy friend post?

"So sad : ( but...Jesus can heal her Amen : )"

No real sympathy for the child. Followed it up with similar posts, and kept on putting "Amen" in them.

It's automatic, but I also do think, based on your description of her as a fundy, that she does think the SCOTUS rules against Prop 8 and keeps DOMA intact. I hope I'm wrong, but so many fundies I've noticed use "Jesus" as a shield to promote their bigotry. (None of them really bothered reading anything he said, I'm guessing.)

I think many fundies are conflicted....If the Scotus rules as we hope it will, she may be able to view it as being god's will and become more accepting of both you and your Mrs.

At least, I hope so!

Regardless of the outcome, it will be God's will, so be comforted in that.

Sadly, a lot of these kinds of posters actually think they are being helpful.
