(9,077 posts)if I had it available. The last place I lived had Churc's really close & Popeye's required a drive. I always went for Popeye's. Sadly, where I live now, there is neither. It's been about 5 years.

(8,492 posts)I went to Phoenix and they don't carry it. What sort of evil dwells in Arizona that causes people to make poor menu offerings?
Now I want Popeye's and it's almost a 2 hour drive. Thanks for nuthin'.

(8,492 posts)I have several friends that are from the east coast and few of them like spicy food. I really never put it all together until you mentioned it.
I'm from Chicago, we'll eat anything. My family is from Louisiana, they'd add hot sauce to a milkshake.
I wonder if it really is as regional as I'm thinking it is. I'd volunteer for the research as long as someone else was picking up the tab.
Anyway...go for the Popeye's. Get some good local honey for dipping. /drool

(1,425 posts)I live in South Texas--if you claim it's spicy, you better deliver. The Popeye's spicy in CC will make you break out in a sweat. I love it.

(28,749 posts)behind the glorious orange walls. It seems like a logical assumption that some fast food/restaurants may adjust specific menu flavoring to maximize on local demand. For example I believe McDonalds has/had some specific regional foods which it does not offer nationwide.

Just plain ol' run-of-the-mill home-cookin' style red beans & rice. I've had it in an upscale
EXPENSIVE Cajun restaurant where they fancied it up with all sorts of meats and veggies
and I was missing plain ol' red beans & rice the whole meal.
.
Popeye's makes some surprisingly GOOD authentic red beans & rice. The onliest thang
missing is about 5 or 6 1/2"-thick disks of grilled Andouille sausage... but it'll certainly do.

(28,749 posts)realized the error of my ways, and then went to get Popeyes. I just had a thought someday I could be in a place where there is no Popeye's however there most likely will be local Pizza.

(28,749 posts)however my life is probably slightly shorter from my Popeye's choice.

(4,833 posts)I have a bit of a junk food addiction. Fortunately I am pretty far out of range to get it regularly these days, but I had never tried Popeyes until this past January. OMG! had to go twice in a couple days while I was up in the big city. that is some pretty damn good chicken!
