They've announced that they're getting the iPhone as of mid-April, and my contract with AT&T expires at the end of April.
I'm considering switching because:
1. They'll let me use the phone for tethering with as little as a 2GB data plan, as opposed to AT&T's 5GB plan, which I have never used up, thus saving $20 a month
2. They're GSM, like AT&T, and have good international coverage
3. I can keep my iPhone4
NOTE: I'm not interested in switching to Android at this point because my phone, iPad, and computer are all nicely integrated, and I'm not trying to provoke a platform war. I'm simply asking about their coverage and customer service.

(6,336 posts)But T-Mobile has never been an option for me because their coverage sucks at my parents house (NYC suburbs, so not exactly the sticks). I would check coverage maps.

(8,462 posts)You would need a 4s to get 3G and the updated version of the 5 (which comes out next month) to support even higher speed.
2G worked fine for me and data over the last year, was only $5 as tmobile doesn't cap data they just slow you down to 2G. If you're already at 2G... DU mobile view is fine and email was acceptable. Streaming Pandora was iffy though but I was usually near wifi if I wanted to stream.

(48,217 posts)I don't necessarily want to go to the iPhone5 at this time, nor does it make any sense to go for a 4s. My plain old iPhone4 works just fine and does everything I want it to.

(2,173 posts)I got grandfathered in. They keep calling to see if I want to switch plans. I tell them what my deal is and the caller always sounds stunned. They can't beat it with anything new.
T-Mobile has been incredibly reliable. I don't have any complaints. Go for it.
