People use ignore for all kinds of reasons. I wouldn't worry about it.

had to turn you off, or you said something that they couldn't handle and so they retreat into ignorance as bliss.

But why are 21 blocking mail from me? 5 people who don't ignore me, but block mail? I rarely send mail, and the few I send are always friendly, so what are they afraid of?

If someone ignoring you gets PPRd they still show as ignoring you forever ...............until admin make a change to that.

Then they are dropped from DU, but the ignore count remains. Okay.

I've been steady at 5 for about a year.

Only ignored one DUer who, later, was dismissed from DU.

There was a note in Ask Admin awhile back that when they can get round to it ignores etc are going to cease to displayed in any shape or form. As such those you may have on ignore will only have their own smug selfsatisfaction.

Go figure. Guess someone didn't want a ???

Me, I know why a Majority of my 19 have me on ignore, they made sure to tell me. Made it where I did not want to open my DU-mail for a while .

But you never did what I did (that I know of) to have people even consider ignoring you. Guess there are some out there that just don't like nice people.

That's the only way to get ignored is if you say something that contributes to a discussion.

If you want not to be ignored by anyone, don't ever say anything worthwhile, don't ever contribute to the discussion, don't ever disagree with anyone, and agree with everyone! It's just like in the real world.

Don't sweat it.

You are as entitled to your thoughts and opinions as anyone else. Some people just can't deal with that concept.

I have 15 people ignoring me and a 16th blocking mail...I never send nasty mail, what's that all about? Whoever they are, I much prefer being ignored to having to deal with whatever crap they'd throw my way if they weren't ignoring me!

I don't understand that one, either. I rarely send mail, period, and when I do, it's almost always in response to someone else, and never even about politics.

Last I looked, I only had two ignoring me. No idea why. I went from zero to about 20 on my ignore list recently. They're all serial Obama bashers, and they get really tiresome after a while. It's the same old shit every time something happens, regardless of whether or not the facts are all in. I can't tell them apart from the freepers half the time. Weeding that crap out of threads has made the GD a whole lot more readable.

There is a rumor going around, I can't verify it nor do I want to, that you can track someone by blocking their mail... Seems a pretty silly pastime to me, but what do I know?

I don't use ignore....eventually I learn the names of those who always make me crazy and just skip over their nonsense. I think most people have something worthwhile to say, even if just rarely!

But, but when they're everywhere, and they also hijack threads on a constant basis, "ignore" just makes it go away. I'll probably empty my ignore list soon--maybe today. And, I'm sure it will be refilled when the next "outrage" hits.

I picked up my first 5 ignores all at once with my first hidden post! I was so enraged by the terrible 'psychological' advice being handed out on a thread that any sense of courtesy or decorum vaporized and I went off rather like a junkyard dog!

There was a time I knew exactly which posts earned me the rest of the ignores. I no longer remember any but those first 5.

My 14 ignores come from a few Meta wars I fought and one I lost big time. It has been going from 12-15 for the past few months. Someone takes me off and than someone ignores me. I want to know why I have someone ignoring mail from me but not ignoring me. Just plain Weird!

I think ignores should be worn like military service ribbons! The mail ignores that exceed regular ignores are weird, I agree!

14 Star members have me on Ignore, and I have 15 members on Ignore, so my suggestion is to pick up the pace a little.

I think it's more to send a message to the poster saying "Take THAT!" than it is to actually avoid that person's posts. Putting people on "ignore" so reeks of childishness, it's astonishing to me that so many people do it. And declining to receive mail from someone who has not exhibited stalking tendencies is so arrogant... as if you're actually expecting mail from that person. It's all just letting that person know that someone has stuck a finger in his eye while you get to remain anonymous. I agree with the poster above who suggested that our ignore lists be published. Let's see who the foot-stomping sullen among us are.

I'm still relatively new, but I can tell you that on another forum I had whole threads posted in celebration of my wretchedness.

Yeah, for the most part we're pretty much a friendly crew. A few 'characters in search of an author', but interesting nonetheless!
