(56,828 posts)The Freys had some pretty hefty demands - a formal apology, Harrenhall and also Edmure Tully to wed Roslin Frey. However, Robb & Edmure agreed to the terms.

NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)I'm not 100% sure, but in the books she has a dream about the death of a certain character, and I think Mel saying what she said might be a substitute for that.

(46,744 posts)of one of her brothers? and her mother?
Baitball Blogger
(46,744 posts)I watched it again. Ayra is going to kill three of the people whose names she repeats each night.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)she has a long list, though. In the book, I think it gets up to 13 names, including some that have never been on the show (Weese, Polliver, Raff the Sweetling, etc) and one who died before he got added to the list - the Tickler. (He was the guy who tortured people at Harrenhall that Jaqen H'Gar killed for Arya.) In the books, the death of the Tickler is one of the most memorable scenes of the entire series. I hope they can find somebody to substitute for him.

I'm hoping for a romance between Jaime and Brienne. They seem to be good for each other.

(56,828 posts)Sansa's maid and Tyrion's undercover girlfriend?
Baitball Blogger
(46,744 posts)I think most "undercover girlfriends" always knew that there would be a wife in the picture at some point.
Poor Sansa never realized that when that ship sailed into the sunset, it was taking with it the worst possible future scenario in her life.
BainsBane
(53,035 posts)Geoffrey and Little Finger are both evil.
They've made LF more evil & sadistic than he was in the books - at least on the surface in the books.
Hayabusa
(2,135 posts)I keep expecting him to kidnap Sansa and tie her to railway tracks or something.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)However, he's more subtle in the books... and, the twist at the end of A Storm of Swords was a jaw-dropper to me.
Hayabusa
(2,135 posts)And so awesome. I do wish the show would make him a bit more subtle like he is in the books.
BainsBane
(53,035 posts)He is fairly subtle. It's just that his evil acts are becoming apparent. Are you saying in the books he didn't sell women to men who wanted to hurt them? And he didn't sell Ros to Geoffrey so he could kill her?
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)but, there is no "Ros" in the books. THere are numerous whores/prostitutes in the books and Ros is kind of an amalgamation of some of them, though obviously not Shae (Tyrion's girlfriend now, but a former 'camp follower') The whore that gets beaten is Alayaya - who helps Tyrion out by serving as his cover to go out to see Shae. (Tyrion would go to Alayaya at a local high-end brothel, then slip out the back door to see Shae through some secret passages.) However, that is Cersei that has that done, and I'm pretty sure she never got killed.
There are two ice cold bad things Littlefinger does in the books, but he takes a direct hand in both. And, I'm almost positive they'll have to have the second bad thing Littlefinger does on the show... In last night's episode, he passed Ros off to Joff, so he didn't get directly involved and get his hands dirty by killing her himself for her betrayel.
BainsBane
(53,035 posts)about Little Finger on the show. His hands are completely dirty. He new what Joffrey would do.
siligut
(12,272 posts)I wonder how Ros' death by Joff will play out, if Tyrion has to continue to pretend.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)not sure what will happen now.
The book did that well - Martin described the scene with the girl being dragged in with whip marks on her back, and the reader assumes it is Shae because Tyrion is cursing Varys in his mind. However, at the end of the scene, Tyrion moves up to comfort Alayaya - who would not have been in that situation if she didn't cover for Tyrion... She had actually spent the free time learning to read, which is rare in Westeros outside the nobility.

(20,176 posts)and having watched both series fanatically...I never noticed that two of my most-hated characters were being played by the same actor.
It's not really surprising though...HBO likes to use the same actors a lot. I'm just waiting for Michael K. Williams to end up on Game of Thrones...it'll be like HBO casting bingo.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)And Tobias Menzies (Edmure Tully) was Brutus on the same... and fans on the most active Game of Thrones website (westeros.org) seem to love James Purefoy (also from Rome) for just about any male role on Game of Thrones, and like Ray Stevenson for Viktarion Greyjoy.

Tommy_Carcetti
(43,184 posts)A little joke.
But Idris Elba did a great job as Stringer Bell. Ironically, every movie I've seen him in so far he plays an American, even though he's British. And apparently now he'll be South African.
BainsBane

Nelson Mandela actually requested Elba play the part.

I'd squeal on Joffrey but it would be a MAJOR spoiler. But it'll be magnificent.

Although I must admit, Olenna has more balls than small counsel put together to throw the brother/sister rumor in Tywin's face. She is knocking the role out of the park.
Baitball Blogger
(46,744 posts)Chan790
(20,176 posts)That's part of her charm...Lady Olenna Tyrell can throw it in the face of Tywin Lannister because he can't do anything about it. She has all the power in their exchange. It's her son's provisions and troops that give Tywin an army to war against all comers.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)In the books, Sansa was supposed to be wed to Willas Tyrell, the eldest Tyrell son, but also a "gentle" man who can no longer walk due to his legs being shattered while jousting as a teenager.
Garlan Tyrell is the second oldest son and a mighty warrior in his own right, with Loras being only the third eldest son (and already a member of Joffrey's Kingsguard since right after the Blackwater battle...)
On the show, with only one son, who is also gay, the Tyrells do have to worry about the family line being continued. Of course, I know of several gay men from when I was in high school in the early to mid 80s who had children, so I'm sure Loras could do his duty, if needed.

NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)makes Game of Thrones look like a Disney princess movie when it comes to gratuitous sex & violence - multiple people decapitated and/or skewered every episode with blood spurting worthy of the Kill Bill movies, not to mention lots of male & female nudity and sex throughout.
