Does anyone know what the ice cream truck song is actually called?

Every song has a title and origin right? Just occurred to me when one went by that has to be one of the most recognizable tunes in NA. It is pretty much the same everywhere right?

Wasn't exclusively Beethoven, I think had some cool jazz stuff too. Pretty good stuff, and I resisted purchasing!

According to the magical Wikipedia: "The jingle played by Mister Softee trucks is instrumental and based on The Whistler and his Dog in 1960 by Les Waas", although I'm not really hearing it.

the two are very very similar. According to wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_Your_Ears_Hang_Low%3F

'The melody of this song was partially taken from another: "Turkey in the Straw."'

But more often it's guys pushing ice cream carts and ringing bells, mostly older immigrants who look too worn out to pick crops anymore.

really it's distorted played thru a blown horn speaker that keeps repeating the same phrase .

I see myself as a lonely kid with no money--------sorry I zoned out there , I'm old and the sound still creeps me out.

You can download a decibel meter for most smart phones. Most cities have a bylaw saying you can't exceed 70 dB. Most ice cream trucks are over 100 dB.

I was working a sound gig one time running 4000 Watts of power. An ice cream truck pulled up in the parking lot and I had to threaten him with prosecution before he would turn it down enough so people could hear my performers.

Plays Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer in July.

The truck also comes into the subdivision sometimes as late as 8:00 p.m. on winter nights when it's too dark for any "children" to be out.

One of those things that makes you go "hmmmmm".
