Universal Orlando: Harry Potter expansion to open in 2014 at Universal Studios

Universal Orlando has come clean about its expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It will open in 2014 at Universal Studios, the company said Wednesday.

The new area, under construction atop the old Jaws ride and Amity area, will be themed on London, and it will have a Hogwarts Express connector to the original Wizarding World, which opened at the neighboring Islands of Adventure theme park in 2010.

The Studios side will be named Wizarding World of Harry Potter -- Diagon Alley. It will include a "marquee attraction" based on Gringotts bank, Universal said, along with shops and a restaurant based on the films and books created by J.K. Rowling.

Universal again is working closely with Warner Bros. Pictures and the design team from the Potter films.

Good news. What they have now is fantastic, but too small for the demand. onehandle May 2013 #1

As far as I'm concerned, they could tear down most of Universal Studios.

It's not much more than a Six Flags.

if you get there early and have one of those "skip the lines" packages from staying at a Universal Hotel, you can get through both parts of Universal Studios in a (very full) day.

Last time I was at IoA was before Potter opened. But it will be pretty cool to take a Hogwart's train from one park to the other (If I understand the concept correctly)
