It's been a most interesting evening (well at least for me -- YMMV)
My granddaughter graduated from high school this evening. She will be going to a local university in the fall. I keep wondering how the hell I got old enough to have a GRANDchild graduating!!!
So with that existential thought in mind, the rest of the family and I arrived at the outdoor arena where the ceremony was held. The bleachers (ouch) faced the west setting sun and the sun in my eyes (even with sunglasses) damned near brought on a migraine. I found myself sitting between my ex-husband (the grandfather) and his 3rd wife. I divorced him so many years ago, I barely remember being married to him at all. We all chatted amicable -- he and I went to high school together back in the dark ages.
The graduate, her boyfriend, my daughter and son-in-law all wanted to go to an Italian restaurant after the ceremony. The one cuisine I really don't like. Finding something on the menu was a challenge but I settled on bruschetta with tomatoes, onions and mozzarella (fortunately, no basil) and a cup of tea.
It was a lovely evening -- but I still wonder how I can have arrived at being so damned OLD.
