Lots of great writers have gotten a lot of mileage writing about the fact that they are having difficulty writing at all...

Let your mind rove over things...

When you feel a twitch of some sort of passion, go there!

Sometimes I stare out the window into the garden, and observe the way the sun falls over the plants. I've written several poems about that, and they're pretty good too. One even got published.

Good luck!

Set an egg timer for 5 minutes. The only rule is that the pen can't stop moving until the timer goes off; you have to keep writing. By the end you'll find you've forced yourself into a topic and you'll have a good half-page start.

(Common writing exercise taught in many MFA programs, used by writers when they're facing writer's block. One of my favorite examples to cite is that The Shining started with a sheet of paper that said over and over various permutations on "I can't write. I'm so blocked." followed by an outline of the middle third of the novel.)

I have others if that doesn't work.

and we both love to write, and we are enjoying getting to know one another by our writing. I don't really have enough time for it (while I'm at work), but I do it anyway.

Sometimes my Dragon pisses me off with his(?) typing. When I cough the prick actually writes, spell that please. You never know where it will lead you.

Excellent idea! Thanks!

I actually wrote a limerick about a cat, long ago:

A gray cat named Charley McNab
took a trip to the Chesapeake by cab.
He wound up in Waldorf
and lived on a small wharf
and spent his days fishing for crab.

My Harry inspired this. He was His Royal Grayness. I miss him every day.

Prairie and the boxcar children as a kid. Make up a story about abandoned urban children living in a condemed building so the siblings can stay together. They could alternately be hiding from gangs and social services. Then do the screen play, tv series, and movie versions.

Also when (we) become rich, I get a little cut.

In writing class my teacher told us to just write random words or phrases down on paper to think of a topic. If you still can't think of anything, go outside and be mindful for a bit.
