Property Damage in Super Hero Movies

The property damage in many super hero movies is in the billions of dollars. In one X-Men movie, Magneto completely destroys the historic Golden Gate bridge in SF. In a Hulk movie, the Hulk and a bad guy wreck Harlem, and the Avengers team all but destroy mid-town Manhattan. Superman and Batman also have had epic battles against bad guys which tear prime commercial real estate in a major city.

Who pays for this damage? Certainly not the insurance companies. Where is the money going to come from to rebuild these cities? Should the federal government step in? Good luck getting the money from congress.

The wreckage in Midtown Manhattan, all told, would top the financial carnage of 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the Japanese tsunami.

Apparently started and funded by Stark Enterprises, and it also appeared to be a part-time job for superheroes, mutants and others who aren't self-supporting or part of a group.

Makes sense to become part of a "devastation clean-up" crew if you've got superpowers, as I'd imagine it's difficult to live a "normal" life and job you don't have the talent or inclination to spend your time fighting super-villains or are lucky enough to have a rich backer or superhero group to fall back on.

he always donates money via his Wayne Corp business, and I think when Superman fucks shit up, he gets loans from Bats as well. On the Marvel side I imagine Tony Stark pays for a lot of it....

"Well, I wouldn't argue that it wasn't a no-holds-barred, adrenaline-fueled thrill ride. But there is no way you can perpetrate that amount of carnage and mayhem and not incur a considerable amount of paperwork."
