Does it have a weird almost grassy aftertaste (or is it me?)

(102,411 posts)Those commercial products that mix other things like erythritol (e.g., TRUVIA) or other sweeteners leave an after taste to me. I bought Truvia without reading the label once, tried it, spit it out and immediately returned it to the store for a refund. I think it is awful.
Sweetleaf is one marketer of stevia-only containing sweetener that I use... I personally don't cook with it, though I guess you can-- and I really don't use much sweetener at all, but when I do need something, it seems to work well.

(20,176 posts)you can buy it on Amazon being sold under its supplement usage-label for about $13 per 3.5oz which is around half of what the going rate is. http://www.amazon.com/Grams-Stevia-Steviosides-Bulk-Powder/dp/B006QRU5ZQ
Alternately, if you have a green thumb...you can buy seeds to grow your own for around $4 for 50 seeds and it's a perennial so as long as you winter it indoors you should only have to plant it once.

(55,476 posts)Somehow they eliminate the grassy taste
Not the best calorie free soda, but I am a soda addict, and to stay healthy(er) I rotate between sweetners. Splenda, Aspartame and Stevia colas adorn my fridge.

(2,584 posts)I use the concentrated liquid kinds. Haven't checked the label to see if it has the erythitrol additive.
I usually use some stevia, with either honey, agave syrup, or one of the less processed sugars to sweeten.
I figure that the reduction in calories and carbs, along with the reduction on insulin stress is worth putting up with learning to adjust to some difference in taste.

(3,919 posts)of which i have used 2 - about 3 years ago. it's entirely too sweet and it takes me at least a week to use one packet.
i prefer raw honey or raw sugar as a sweetner with my morning cup of yerba mate or coffee.
