I always liked this tune by Little Eva
Plucked out of complete obscurity by Carole King, Eva Narcissus Boyd became a star with her hit single "The Locomotion" (Billboard #1. gold record with over one million copies sold) and appeared on shows like American Bandstand. She was Carole King's babysitter and amused her with her dancing and singing. Seeing that she had natural talent, Carole King decided to write Locomotion for her and have her record it as a demo and a star was born. I bought Locomotion when I was a kid in the early 60s, but it was the flipside that I ended up playing over and over, "He Is The Boy That I Love". I thought the lyrics about her brainless, no good lazy boyfriend were very amusing and her voice was utterly fantastic. Apparently, it's part of the soundtrack for a movie I haven't seen, "Hit and Run".
He is the boy, the boy that i love
Yes he is, Yes he is
He is the boy, the boy that i love
Yes he is, Yes he is
When they gave out brains they got a headless name
He'll never set eyes on a passing grade
But he is the boy, the boy that I love
Yes he is, yes he is.
He is the laziest person I know
Yes he is, yes he is.
He is the laziest person I know
Yes he is, yes he is.
He's so lazy gonna hurt himself
He ain't got ambition to get out of bed.
But he is the boy, the boy that I love
Yes he is, yes he is.
Mama says that I'm crazy,
Tell me that I lost my mind.
But he's equipped with the kind of kisses
That you can't hardly find
He is the boy, the boy that i love
Yes he is, Yes he is
He is the boy, the boy that i love
Yes he is, Yes he is
Mama says he's a no-good guy
But I'm gonna keep him till the day I die
Cause he's the boy,
The boy that I love
Yes he is, yes he is
