you're so sweet!
All our talking about my hair color and you finally get to see it.
I tried these beers this weekend, Redds Apple Ale and Stella Artois Cider tasted like carbonated apple juice. I know you've tried different beers, have you tried either of these?
I'm not a beer drinker don't really care for it, my son thought I might like these. Not bad if you like apple juice.
Aristus
(66,377 posts)I thought asking more than once to see your new hair color would either be weird or creepy; and who wants to be that guy?
I haven't tried the beers you mentioned, but I'll look for them.
It sounds to me like what you'd really like is hard cider. Apple juice with carbonation and a kick. I love the stuff. We have all kinds up here in the Northwest. I've also tried pear cider, which is Heavenly. If you like 'carbonated apple juice', but not beer, try hard cider.
On edit: I can see now that the Stella Artois was supposed to be 'Cider', not 'Cidre'. Shows you what I know: I thought 'Cidre' was a fancy new French variety. Anyway, I thought it was an apple-brewed beer.
one_voice
(20,043 posts)I'm so trying the pear cider if I can find it. I love pears. I will try hard cider. Never thought to try that.
I'm not drinking too much right now (not that I ever do) cuz I'm running that 5k next month and I was looking at the calories/carbs on the Stella and was blown away. So my son says, drinking beer is like drinking liquid bread. Not a good way to get someone to try beer. LOL.
I also tried (just a sip) I sound like lush..lol.. Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy, not too bad.

(18,312 posts)I think the eyebrow roots are connected to my toenails...I was getting them waxed but it's too expensive to do regularly, and I can't do it myself, so I pluck pluck pluck away every 3 weeks. If I do it sooner than that, I overpluck....longer than 3 weeks and it's like using a butter knife to trail-blaze in the amazon.
Here are my eyebrows in their unfettered state....

Just pointing out... Some lose eyebrows from chemotherapy.

Step three: Click "Preview" to make sure it worked, and then post it.
If the picture is your fb picture, make sure to click on the large version, as opposed to the small, icon/avatar version, or the picture will be really small.

(6,907 posts)different browsers and they work different. Click on "open file location" and it should open a page that is the picture. Click the url in the address bar and copy and past that. It should be the location of the picture.

Heddi
(18,312 posts)open the photo,
right click
choose "open photo in new tab" (or window or whatever)
copy the address in the new window that the photo opened in (it should end with .jpg or .tif or something)
paste the address you copied into DU
voila.
Or as my illiterate classmate types, "Vwa-Lah!"

(21,484 posts)Hi, Heddi!
Heddi
(18,312 posts)It was sold at the canteen at the hospital where I worked. It's a dried out corn cob, put it in the micro for a minute or three and it pops but stays on the cob! It was neat-o!
Bertha Venation
(21,484 posts)We had corn on the cob with dinner last night. Delicious.
Heddi
(18,312 posts)You know, if you're at work or whatever and want corn on the cob, but don't have a gallon of water to boil it in, or a grill to grill it on, you can just put it in the microwave with the husk on for a few minutes and it comes out AWESOME. I was skeptical at first but I tried it and it was really good, and now I can have fresh COTC at work without it going all goofy from sitting in the fridge the night before
Bertha Venation
(21,484 posts)We grill it. Sometimes in the husk, sometimes in foil. Dee-lish.
Heddi
(18,312 posts)we put it on the fire, like you sometimes in foil, sometimes not. We'll make hobo packet with potatoes and onions, just put them in the fire and by the time we're ready for eating the food is done. I like cooking over a fire

(29,047 posts)I love to eat fish. Why were you shocking the Earth?
The wolf pics are cool too.
Tyrs WolfDaemon
(2,289 posts)When I caught it, I had no idea that there were Freshwater drum in that lake. After years of fishing there, that was the first time I had even seen one (it was also the first time I had ever seen one in person ). We actually took the picture to see what it was since our flashlight's batteries crapped out on us that night. Using the flash to see didn't work too well , but the picture came out. After the first flash I was all, 'It's a Bass!' while my buddy was 'It's a Carp!'. After the second flash we looked at each other and said 'It's a giant mutant perch?' but that didn't stop us from deciding it was worth eating.
Shocking the earth - , I was doing an earth resistivity study on a ranch looking into the their shallow geology. The owners asked that I do some work because they wanted to know more about their land and the water resources they had...have (This was years ago, so the world being what it is, their resources ought to be the same). By moving the probes out to different distances you can change the depth that you are testing. I always found shallow earth geophysics fun, even when using old antiquated equipment like I was that day. The newer stuff will create colorful cross sections and even 3D plots assuming you set out the probes right.
As to the wolves, I have always had a connection to wolves, foxes, coyotes and other canines. My parents have told me that I've had that connection since I was a newborn. I've even had visits from foxes and coyotes while camping. Those would happen really late at night when I couldn't sleep. It was almost like they would come keep me company, so I would talk to them. My friends thought I was nuts when they would catch me doing it, but they thought it was pretty cool that our camp would get visited like that.
I also think that wolves are much more noble than humans, so it has always been a deep down wish that I could shed my human skin and join them.

(29,047 posts)You look so vibrant and happy. What was your trip to Egypt like? If I ever go, do you have any advice for me?
sinkingfeeling
(51,457 posts)sister and I) went with Abercrombie and Kent, which is a high-class tour provider. I couldn't have afforded it except that last year they ran 50% off on trips to Egypt. We were there when Morsi issued his decree, taking over more power and the first of many protests were held on Tahrir Square. We could actually see the lights and hear the crowd from the balcony of our hotel on the last night we were in Cairo.
Cairo is like nothing I'd seen before. Masses of cars and buses along with horse and buggies, herds of goats and flocks of geese. Very congested and very poor. I could have spent a couple of days at the Museum.
We flew to Aswan to see Abu Simbel and the dams. Then got on the Sanctuary Sun Boat IV for our cruise down the Nile. We stopped at several temples and on to Luxor. After the temples of Luxor and Karnak, we crossed the Nile to the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens.
I'd have loved to have stayed in Luxor for a month or so. I'm nuts about archaeology and Egyptology. We were in the second tallest pyramid at Giza, in King Tut's tomb, and saw and touched stuff 5,000 years old.
I'm terribly concerned about the country and how it may effect our ability to travel there again. I feel the same about multiple places around the globe. Want to see as much as I can before it's too late.
ZombieHorde
(29,047 posts)I would love to go those museums. When I go to New York City, I always take time to visit the museums. I got to see the William Blake exhibit, which was awesome for me.
