Requirements to occupy a strip mall in my area.

Must haves: Nail salon
Fair-bad Chinese food restaurant
Cell phone store
Some form of a Dollar Store

on deck: More of the same, just different names

A few years back, one had a crown of thorns for sale for Easter (seriously). The husband, a Christian, damn near gave himself a coronary yelling, "Jesus Christ! WTF is WRONG with you people!" He got some pretty funny looks from people passing by.

They are a dime a dozen---including the poor (pun intended) people standing outside holding the signs all day, pointing to the business.

Dry Cleaner
A Chinese, Thai or Sushi Restaurant (sometimes all three)
Dominos, Papa Johns or Other Pizza Delivery Outfit
Subway or Jerry's Sub Shop
A CVS or Rite Aid Pharmacy
A Grocery Store (Giant or Safeway)
Some sort of Dessert Place (Ice Cream, Yogurt, Cookies, Cupcakes)
At least one Bank, usually more
Starbucks
Hair/Nail Salon

Chipotle, Five Guys and/or some other sort of high end fast food outfit are showing up in nearly all teh strip malls around here too.

Geez...consider yourself lucky...I would have to make 3 seperate stops to all of the above. Not that I'm a patron to all of them...but my bank and pharmacies are seperate.

Chain hair styling place

Tax preparation agency

Chain jewelry store

And somewhat amazingly so in this uber WASP uptight white collar suburban hell in the bible belt: A "head shop" of sorts. Not really a head shop I guess but a counterculture/hippie store. Does quite well from what I can see. It's walking distance from a state university, which would explain the deviation from the total blandness in this and some other food places I didn't mention.
