And NEVER EVER EVER list a pet for re-homing on Craigslist. People who engage in dog fighting peruse Craig's list in search of bait dogs and cats.

I live in San Antonio and that is rampant in this area. Many people are unaware. They need to rehome a pet, they list it on Craigslist, some "nice" person comes along and wants to adopt it, and the owners think their prayers have been answered. Then a beloved family pet becomes bait.

The lesson is: If you need to rehome your pet, you MUST check out the adoptor very carefully, and when possible, it's best to rehome through an established rescue group that does home checks, etc.

That emotion was real. I feel bad for the lady, too, but a true dog lover would want the pup to be with his rightful owner.
