(15,222 posts)I live in San Antonio and that is rampant in this area. Many people are unaware. They need to rehome a pet, they list it on Craigslist, some "nice" person comes along and wants to adopt it, and the owners think their prayers have been answered. Then a beloved family pet becomes bait.
The lesson is: If you need to rehome your pet, you MUST check out the adoptor very carefully, and when possible, it's best to rehome through an established rescue group that does home checks, etc.
