I use their damned card to get the discounts. In return I get ridiculously long receipts, containing coupons for things I'll never buy. Today's is more than a yard in length. I swear, you could write the entire New Testament on one of these receipts.
Pfft.
Oh, on edit: I bought a 12-pack of Coke, two 20-oz Zeroes, a box of band-aids, and a snack. 44-inch receipt. I say again: pfft.

(13,447 posts)They've got three self-serve registers, so the employees have apparently all decided that means they can just spend their shift stocking selves and walk around aimlessly while the customers ring themselves up.

(43,049 posts)I tend to get 7 or 8 smaller receipts.
Nothing there I want, though, except maybe the 30 cents off on gas.

(20,176 posts)I figure they could have saved $100! this year on paper by going to a more-complete online card system like Giant and Safeway where you log-on and add the "instant coupons" (paperless discounting) onto your card for the "not everybody is eligible or has made the qualifying purchases" offers you want.

July 11, 2012 People are being exposed to higher levels of the substitute for BPA in cash register thermal paper receipts and many of the other products that engendered concerns about the health effects of bisphenol A, according to a new study. Believed to be the first analysis of occurrence of bisphenol S (BPS) in thermal and recycled paper and paper currency, the report appears in ACS' journal Environmental Science & Technology.

(Jan. 22, 2013) Researchers found that like BPA, BPS disrupts cellular responses to the hormone estrogen, changing patterns of cell growth and death and hormone release.
