(4,465 posts)I think I only watered the garden a handful of times and I never really maintained a decent tan either. Supposedly we're in for a much colder Winter than usual, too. I'm hoping for snow if that's the case.

(5,604 posts)I get irritable and miserable when I'm consistently cold, wet, muddy, ears and face stung by bitter wind, and/or suffocating under a pile of clothing. Spent too many years working outside in those elements.

(28,762 posts)I try every year to remember the cool crisp days of Fall can be beautiful, and to think of the cute clothes and boots and my beloved well worn leather jacket -
it doesn't really work though. Every year at this time I wish I lived in California, or Florida. Summer's end really is unbearable for me.
I've been trying to get as much out of the remaining few warm days, but it's cold at night now. I have to wear sweats to take the dog out at night. ugh, so sad.
To Summer, we'll see you again next year.

(49,999 posts)But I've come to love the light in the fall. The low angle and a little dust in the air gives great colors and shadows in the autumn.

(31,407 posts)I don't like walking the dog at 7 a.m. when it's cold, dark, wet and generally miserable.

(21,020 posts)like in the favorite season poll, even though I chose Winter, it's really the time span between late Winter and early Spring I hate.
When stuff is melting and the snow is dirty and it's mud season where I live and the sun is so brilliant it's almost painful.

(1,495 posts)But living in Minnesota the past 8 years, I would also say winter. So it's a tie for me...

(5,364 posts)Plus winters are not too bad here. While it can and does often get quite cold, they're not very long and there is not much snow.
I can always put something else on if I get chilly; I can't take off the slimy stickiness that comes with the stifling heat and humidity of summer.

(78,249 posts)Although it did rain on Saturday. That is unacceptable. It is not supposed to start raining again for another month or so.

(4,056 posts)But now it is so perfect in SF, just justifies the Big Bucks we pay to live here. These are the weeks I live on my bicycle, or sit outside with chilled Pinot Grigio. Please, no more rain or cold till November!
That said I freakin *****HATE**** winter! I hate when the Mercury drops below 50 degrees, I hate when it's dusk at 4pm I hate having a stupid birthday in the middle of December I hate the forced holiday cheer. How come bears get to hibernate through it all, while we humans (who're supposed to be the highest species on the planet) are stupid enough to try and function?
Bears rock!

(14,819 posts)It's already starting to cool down, and it's getting darker, there are early hints of trees changing colour - everything it getting ready to pack up on life, the change is depressing.

(13,447 posts)When it's the coldest and gets dark at 4pm. I love Christmas, so I like December, though I guess winter only encompasses 10 days in December. I also kinda like the snow, it's just that it gets so damn dark in January-February. Ironically, I really pick up my hiking those months and try to get out every weekend. I do far more hiking in the cold months than I do in the hotter months from May-August.

(2,751 posts)Currently winter, which is miserable here. Cloudy, rainy, cold, zero snow and the trees look like spiny dead...things It looks like the fekkin Munster neighborhood for 3 months.
Loved Florida all year round as well as Washington DC.

(3,065 posts)Wet season (May through October) and dry season (November through April). I don't like dry season. I spent two many years in the Mojave desert and really kinda love when it rains. Even if I have to work or drive in the rain I don't mind it so much. And winter only lasts about 9 days here. I won't be here for it this year. Goin' on a cruise for New Years week and I'll be in the Cayman Islands on Jan. 1. Poor me.

And while fall in the Ozarks can be really nice, fall in this part of Japan sucks.

(9,465 posts)Summer. Unfortunately, here it lasts about 5-6 months. Hot, humid, enervating. The folks who lived here in the days before AC must have been tough!
The autumn day I can finally turn off the air - usually around Halloween, though Miami has had heat waves at Christmas (and my FIL refused to turn on the AC "because it's December", never mind the thermometer) - I want to do a happy dance.
I once sent a photo of a bank thermometer just above a Christmas tree lot that read 89 degrees as a Christmas card. Not so Happy Holidays!
