I think my eyeballs are going to fall out.

Or explode.

Besides working all day (I'm a graphic artist), I'm doing some freelance (emphasis on 'free') for a local charity. An 84 page booklet with lots of crappy scans that I have to clean up. Add to that the time I spend reading DU and other worthy sites, FB and gaming...

...my eyes are killing me. My eye doc would be very disappointed in me. They're all bloodshot and puffy. I look stoned out of my mind.

I may have to take a break tonite.

But, I can't do that because it affects the way colors are represented on my monitor. I have it set to a 'graphics friendly' grayish-yellow, anyway. It isn't actually the brightness that bothers me, it's the constant eye strain.

But, thanks for the suggestion.

I was just thinking on the way to work how much I miss 'real' fall. It's the one reason I think I may have to hold out on my vacation back to the Midwest for a full year instead of spring.

a free, easy to use drawing/painting program for use with a drawing tablet? (I found an old wacom bambu but have no discs for it).

I want to draw on the tablet like I draw on paper - only better lol.

That is, if you haven't already taken a break...please don't wreck your eyes more my account!

...I found this site:

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/graphic-tablets-graphics-programs-break-digital-cartoon-design/

My search was; drawing programs for tablets
You might find something more suitable if you check the search yourself. Too many variables and a lot of hits.

Obviously, you'll need to check compatibility, etc. If your tablet is older you might want to check on ebay.

So's this guy:

Personally, I'm more a scanner and camera "artist."

I put artist in quotes because I've got family members who actually are artists. My dad's an artist who had a union job on the side. He's retired now with a decent pension and can be a full time artist.

But I do love Linux, gimp, and inkscape.

I don't buy software or computers anymore, mostly because I haven't go any money. My laptop is held together with hot glue and duct tape and was originally trash. I've got maybe $40 invested in it, for extra RAM mostly.

My own art tends to be dark, which probably isn't good for me.

This was one of my Adam and Eve pictures, but I didn't like Adam so I edited him out:

I did that with gimp and debian. It's no big deal, but it matched my mood at the time.
