I can’t say enough bad things

about laugh tracks on TV shows. They’re the main reason I don’t watch sitcoms. Canned laughter really irritates me. Another thing that bugs me is that mr. froggy usually laughs right along with them, as he's doing right now, while I'm as far from the TV as I can get while that stupid sitcom, whatever it's called, is on.

What if other kinds of TV shows had something similar, like cry, groan, scream, barf, or OMG! tracks? Or maybe canned riffs that, unlike MST3K riffs were, aren’t funny?

I hate laugh tracks.

It's mostly because of the commercials that I haven't watched TV in several decades, but I'm with you 100% on the laugh tracks. They make me feel like I'm in a mental institution somehow. Here's something really funny: now laugh along or be left out.

It's probably one of the reasons the brilliant sit-com Police Squad failed. No laugh track, so the people at home didn't know when to laugh.
