Explain this to me if you can..........

I have finally been able to complete my application at healthcare.gov. For my income for 2014 (projected) I filed for $8,000. This is based on my maybe, just maybe finding employment.

So, with the app filed, with $0 help from the government, my silver plan will be $486 a month. $5382 a year, WTF.

I do smoke, but I checked non use of tobacco, and use of tobacco and non use was about $128 less a month. I just don't get that with my low income my subsidy is $0.

all the forms for Medicaid (which the Governor) has not expanded, and was denied. Denial was due to the fact that I have no disability that precludes me from working.

8. So, in Pennsylvania, you can be disqualified if you're not disabled?

What if you're not disabled and you're earning an income but you still live at or below the poverty level? Or what if you are looking for work but can't find a job?

3. You're well below the 100% poverty rate for any state, so there's a mistake.

You need to try the calculator again or use a different calculator.

No way you're paying that much, I'd be surprised if you had to pay anything.

Of course, it depends a bit on what state you're in. I hope it's not Florida or Michigan.

Here's a link: http://www.familiesusa.org/resources/tools-for-advocates/guides/federal-poverty-guidelines.html

Find your state's poverty line.

5. I know there's a mistake somewhere........

I did the online chat, because I wanted to look at my application again, to make sure everything was good. In order to do that I have to call the 800#, and ask for that capability & the request would be "prioritized". I called and the service rep was lost, so I will call again.

The web site has the a link for "life changes", but it won't be available until 11/15. I live in PA and Corbett has not expanded Medicaid.

7. At the unexpanded level, does $8,000 disqualify you for Medicaid?

Also, having to request the capability of reviewing one's own application and then needing to wait for that request to be prioritized is not effective or efficient. I'm not sure why applicants can't freely log in to, review, and modify, their own records, applications, and so on.

Frustrating! The programmers must be baggers who want to see the ACA fail.
