Sadie Jones nodded off in shops, next to loudspeakers and even while working as a hairdresser.
She dozed off during her first dates with partner Nick Threadgold but he was understanding and she finally had narcolepsy diagnosed and treated.
Sadie, 39, had thought she would never have a long-lasting relationship because of her condition. She said of the couples first dates: We went to a restaurant but within minutes, even before ordering the meal, I had fallen asleep.
It was so embarrassing and awful for him he must have thought I found him boring. On other occasions Id fall asleep as soon as we got to the bar.

(34,111 posts)It is very hard to deal with. It feels awful. I went through high school, college, working a job and then nursing school before anyone would diagnose it because in those days us young folk were all "looking for drugs". I cannot tell you how many close calls I had. Nasty stuff.
