How do you know winter has arrived

in your neck of the woods. Heat not yet turned on in my apartment. I'm wearing huge wool sweater. Every time Twilight leaves my bed I go get and bring her back to keep my thorax warm. Last night she even hid from me in the livingroom because I just can't leave that cat alone. At least until the heat is turned on.

mini-shorts, tank tops, and Ugg boots. The tourists go back to wherever they came from, the ponds get a few ducks on them, people start complaining about how cold it is, and my Buffalo-bred wife starts rolling her eyes and punching people who complain about how cold it is. It's quite a sight to behold, really, when winter arrives on the Central Coast...

tartan mini skirt all winter long. In Ottawa. I also recall it was all the fashion to wear rubber boots in winter one year I was in high school. Now I wear a muskrat on my head all winter long. I have traded style for comfort.

I keep it at 55 during the night and for much of the day if I'm active doing projects around the house but if I'm just sitting around or not feeling very well, 58 is about the lowest I am comfortable with.

in our bunnyhugs and shorts. Here, the first snow just means you might get wet if you fall over. I'll give it another few weeks before I drag out the dreaded winter wear and turn the heat on, unless it turns super cold fast.

I will be home this Friday. My buddy was out this morning in just board shorts and a rash guard, and said in the water temp was too uncomfortable. 63 degrees seems to be both our cutoff points to go in the ocean without a wetsuit.

I know it's winter when I look out the window and Sean Bean is dramatically standing in front of a foggy sky with a sword.
