The monkeys of Delhi

Delhi. You will not find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Seriously, it's an awful city with all the disadvantages of the developing world but all of the impersonality and menace of the developed world. Avoid it; Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai are all better.

That said, I did get some cool photos of a feral monkey troop there.

There's an adolescent, playing around on the concertina wire. That wall is their main thoroughfare from where they hang out during the day to the garage they sleep in at night. If they get down on the ground the shopkeepers' dogs chase them.

Some juveniles, posing for the camera (the juveniles seemed to like the camera; their mom was having none of that and scooped them up)

Another juvenile, in the safe (ie dog-free) area of the parking lot.

The alpha female, scooping up the kids and getting them across the street.

The young ones go reluctantly.

This guy does not seem happy with heights.

While this one takes a mighty leap.

The mom gives this one a ride.

This is the alpha male who brings up the rear of the pack; the shopkeeper said the dogs are afraid of him.

In summary: Delhi sucks, but has good monkeys.
