And, per the etymology dictionary, that's actually where the term came from.
You guys may be grumbling that I'm bragging, but actually I love cold weather and snow, so this is kind of depressing for me...

(21,020 posts)my area is when the weather gets very warm only after the first killing frost (which hasn't happened yet).
Typically around the end of October to mid November.
Summer's last gasp before giving up the ghost to full-on Autumn.

(30,947 posts)and the sun is shining. I am just northwest of Atlanta. I love cold weather. I lived in Miami, FL, the majority of my life, and I hated the heat and humidity down there, It is wonderful to live somewhere that has seasons and not just year-long summer.

(130,923 posts)Pretty chilly here, in DC suburbs of MD, high of ?52 today, and hoping for a 'warm up' Indian Summer next week, 70 or so, that I can enjoy at my cottage by the river. Awaiting Spring this year will be agonizing!!! I usually appreciate the change of seasons, but now I want Spring/Summer all the time!
