so Twilight has morphed into a zoned out dude kitty instead of the zippy thing she was last week. Very sleepy.

(2,817 posts)Candy is fighting with Captain who chased her into the kitchen. MamaKat is sleeping on a blanket on the floor next to me. The other 5 cats are sleeping elsewhere.
Bailey the parakeet is twittering away like crazy. The hermit crabs are still moulting under the sand.
I had to turn the furnace on for the first time last week and that put the cats in the yearly WTF is that! mode. It takes them a few days for them to calm down.
I'm enjoying this break from Patches the cat because she has become so needy trying to jump onto my lap but she won't settle down just squirms around.
Captain has decided to have a go with MamaKat. Good luck with that. MamaKat will clean his clock. My favorite thing is when she goes to him and sets her ass down on him as if she was saying make me move.

(115,719 posts)I bought a nice new cat bed last week. The two boy cats constantly fought over it, so I bought another, identical one. Last night I found them both sleeping together in one of the beds.

(14,061 posts)I've posted about her here -- Heidi is a Dachshund who ruptured a disk about three weeks ago and had to have back surgery. Since then she has not been able to walk and has been at the vet hospital getting intensive PT, with a water treadmill and other exercises. We bring her home for some TLC on the weekends and take her back for the week.
I'm happy to report that she is beginning to regain some voluntary movement in her legs, and can stand a little bit and can take a few wobbly steps. Soon (we hope) we may be able to just have outpatient treatment for her...

(14,061 posts)It turns out that as of next week she will be at the vet's only three days a week...definitely moving toward a more outpatient basis.
Tonight we saw her take some good steps...the excitement was like that when our kids took theirs...we are convinced that she will walk again.

(11,770 posts)chase game, laser play and brushing. Soon after their brushing, they'll crash out for the night- part of their night spent with mom, the other in the sun room by the gas fireplace. Our two guys are very set in their routine.

(35,677 posts)My three cats are sleeping constantly.
I turned on the heat this week and they gravitate to the bedroom to sleep on my Princess and the Pea bed, which is piled high with down comforters. One of the three is an indoor/outdoor cat and has no interest in the outdoors now. She just wants to curl up on the bed and sleep.
I also lit a fire in the fireplace and that was a big hit.

(11,361 posts)... to drive me insane on our walks. Her current obsession is maple seeds - she wants to eat them all, and yes, they do make her sick if she eats more than a few. I can hardly wait for snow to cover up all these hazardous "food" sources.

(11,065 posts)Stalking and attacking his feet since sometimes he likes to imagine they're separate critters like squirrels or bunnies, chasing his tail, digging under the coffee table for his favorite tennis ball and continually getting it stuck back under there (rinse and repeat), sticking his whole head in my personal bits every hour or so to check if everything is present and accounted for (it is... it always is, but he refuses to believe it hence the hourly crotch checks), snoozing with the toilet (don't ask - and here I thought I would only have one Akita with a strange love affair with the toilet), rubbing his head on my belly to get rid of any eye boogies and leaving them on me to take care of, sleeping (a lot), having a lovely walk in this freezing ass cold weather that he loves and I hate, took a quick trip in the car to the store with me, ran me all over the store parking lot for about an hour looking for yummy bits to snarf up (you just never know if someone opened their Oreo cookies before getting to the car and dropped one somewhere on the pavement), spent a couple of hours licking every last molecule of peanut butter out of the jar after I chased after that last bit in the bottom to try to get enough to wipe on a piece of bread, and now he's called it a night and is once again sleeping with his beloved toilet.
Fun day.
