Adults that still engage in middle school humor that makes fun of people like that need to be schooled.

(41,991 posts)Maybe. What you're seeing is a production. What actually happened may be far different. The pranker is a professional comedian, and though I don't know about this particular one, what often happens when things are put up in public by pros is that yes, the original prank is played, then revealed and people sign off on having their images used. They become collaborators in the video and get a lot of pleasure out of it. If he was doing it in an elementary school for giggles that would be different.
I wouldn't do it myself, but I think the idea is cleverly done.

(18,497 posts)Not funny at all. It could scare someone terribly that is old and superstitious.

After all - their call is "trick or treat", right?
Well I gave them both, well - at least those that din't run away screaming . . .
I hooked up my guitar amplifier in the bushes surrounding this large old house I rented,
with a microphone inside my dimly lit house.
As soon as the kids yelled "trick or treat", I'd start with a growly voice on the amplifier - mimicking Vincent Price.
Some kids immediately took off, others were skeptical and hung around - give them some milder stuff, then invite them in llike a wicked witch or something - but then would put on full lights so they'd get the spoof.
Most ended up coming inside to pick off a table laden with fruit like apples, oranges and bananas right inside my door as well as some candy.
It was a fun night for all - well almost all. Heard later from the neighbors that it was the talk of the neighborhood - apparently some of the kids ran straight home to mom and pop about the crazy old man on the hill.
Turned out the kids got kidded by the other kids who didn't run away - No mom or pop every complained to me about it - some approached and laughed about it.
It WAS indeed good clean fun.

(41,991 posts)Though they did a great job and it was a cash cow, they knew some kids would never go in or would be very scared, so every afternoon before it opened they led a backstage tour and showed exactly how everything worked, the mechanisms, people getting made up, how the illusions were created. It was fun to see the ones that went through later explaining it all to people. They felt very powerful, even though it might still scare them.

Largest lot, and oldest house for miles, on the corner of a major route and new subdivisions,
large raised lot with steps going through a rock garden and trees,
even had a wood stove in the middle of a large living room, 24 x 36 feet.
Constant smoke coming out added to the oddity of the place,
and it's tenant.
