I like hearing the pronunciations of words Lovecraft almost certainly intended to be unpronounceable.

(30,252 posts)I had ordered a DVD of The Call of Cthulhu from the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society via Amazon, and it just arrived in the mail today. The movie was made just a few years ago, but it's a B&W silent picture in the same vein as horror movies that were made when Lovecraft wrote this story. Here's a sneak peek:
The DVD just arrived in my mailbox tonight, so I'm looking forward to a spooky old-school Halloween viewing at home!

(21,925 posts)and that it's pretty good. I've been a Lovecraft fan since I was a kid and some of the efforts to bring his works to their screen haven't always been too satisfying. I hope you enjoy the flic and report back to us. I thought the movie Dagon wasn't a bad effort to try to bring two Lovecraft combined stories to the screen ("Dagon" and "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" . Directed by Stuart Gordon, I think it's a superior movie to his previous Lovecraft efforts of Re-Animator and From Beyond. I think Dagon is very watchable and has creepy and suspenseful moments.
