Do you think anyone here would be interested in photos of WWII Army Base life?

I have tons of pictures my grandmother and grandfather took.

Grandpa was a Colonel in the Army, and so a lot of the pictures he took showed day to day life on a military base.

Grandma took a bunch of pictures on the bases back home.

Some historic trust or library or veteran's society must be out there who would love to add them to their collection.

I love vintage photos, and all kinds if Americana.

My dad was a WWII vet - I'd love to see everyday photos from that era.

You should scan them and post them somewhere and then post a link here. It would be great since next month is Veteran's Day.

My grandfather was a 2nd Lt. in the Army Air Corp in WWII.

Check with them. The history department will know best what to do. Any department worth its salt will have a WWII expert.

Many of the photos are small, as they had a Polaroid Camera of the time (30s-40s-50s)

Photographs bring an immediacy to history that cannot be matched by words. When I think of how much cultural and social history is mouldering away in attics, I could weep. Or at least sniffle.

I'd love to see them...maybe a WW2 vets group near to you could point you to an archivist who would make a copy for you(and us) and submit a copy to an oral history site. please let us know what you choose to do.
