(78,249 posts)Russian River, as the name implies and the label indicates, is in Sonoma County. Drake's, makers of the 9.75% Denogginizer , is in San Leandro, a city adjacent to Oakland that is also the home of Ghirardelli chocolates and Rice-A-Roni (the San Leandro treat?).

(12,132 posts)Stouts and porters are my general favorite although there are things in most every style that turn me right on.
I just had a Cigar City Jai Alai (American Pale Ale) this weekend that was a shock on the first pull but by the end I was clamoring for more. Hopped right into my heart.

(21,794 posts)Basically, I like what my local brewery puts out:

In addition, I'm partial to the seasonal variety packs from Sam Adams and Saranac (FX Matt, New York)

(14,400 posts)I tend to migrate to the heavier Bocks and Dopplebocks. Meal in a glass kind of stuff that still has a pretty good kick.
One of my favorites is from one of my favorite breweries. Thomas Hooker Liberator Doppelbock.
It gets a well earned 100 from The Bros at Beer Advocate too.

(14,738 posts)Not keen on most lager type beers, so Helles and Pilsner don't hold much appeal to me.
Jever Pilsner being the one exception to that rule.
My current favourite types of beer are citra-hopped pale ales and also hoppy wheat beers.

(24,931 posts)While the size of the boot might be a bit small, the intensity of the hop flavor and aroma in Size 7 more than makes up for it. We take prodigious amounts of hops and add them any chance we get to this Northwest style IPA. If you ever call Size 7 balanced well kick you where it hurts (in the hop sack).
Color: Gold
Alcohol content by volume: 7.0%
International Bitterness Units: 77

(5,477 posts)Just about finished the last keg, and need to plan for a brew day sometime real soon. I'm very close to duplicating Pike brewing Company's Space Needle Golden Anniversary IPA...the last batch had just a touch too much bittering hops, but the flavor and aroma was damn close.

(7,208 posts)That's right. I said it.
Gimme a beer, not a bottle of perfume!
Like 30" spinner rims on a '78 Monte Carlo, in a few years people will ponder... "What the hell were we thinking? This shit sucks!"
