but he was technically the very first major label artist* I ever saw in concert. He opened up for the Beach Boys in the early 80s.
I liked his hit song at the time:
*definitely the first secular artist - before that I had only seen religious music performed at churches and revival meetings - Bill Gaither and Petra and stuff like that. Thank Cthulu I got out of that mess.
