There are two instances why.

1 - The Windshield of my father's car completely shattered after a night that had such a thing. He tried to scrape off, and the whole thing just fell in.
2 - 3 years ago, my car, after it being given back to me by a valet had frost on it, and then after scraping it off, nary a mile away from the venue, a HUGE crack slowly moved from the bottom of my windshield all to the right side.

It is pretty, but I get scared for my windshield.

If it happens, it happens and I will deal with it. In the meantime, I will continue to appreciate the beauty. (And the warmth of my fireplace!).

It is pretty, I just don't want to spend another 200.

I've had to replace my windshield 3 times.

We had snowmobiles back when you could afford to put gasoline in them. (Although I remember my dad saying "when gas gets up to 50 cents a gallon, those snow machines are gonna go!&quot

Now, the only thing winter is good for is that the attached garage can stand in for the refrigerator, and the porch can work as a freezer.

There have been many mornings in the winter when my windshield had ice like that in your photo. This may be the deep south, but we sometimes have some brutal winters.

Many chapters ago in my life book.
It is pouring rain and 77 right now, I had to turn the A/c on.
Our temps are going up and down.......few days of cold, few days of hot...driving the poor plants nutz, they keep trying to bloom.

The water vapor coming into contact with the freezing glass and freezing directly from gas to solid, bypassing the liquid phase.

Water is weird.
