Dec 2013

I can see the frustration within her...
The desktop PC that we all use isn't comfortable for her to sit at for more than a few minutes at a time...
The psoriatic arthritis is making it impossible for her to write much longhand...

She's won every award that WVU gives to their poets, but is losing her ability to create simply due to these circumstances.

With a laptop again (our last one died by virus after we loaned it to relatives), she could sit or lay down on the bed and be comfortable for longer periods of time while composing her poetry -- and i know she has a host of things swirling around in her head that ~need~ that outlet.

Things will be kinda tight until tax-refund time, but that's the thing on the top of the list once we get that in the bank.

I wanna see if my fancy writing jones will be satiated before I lay down real money. I realize there are more expensive fountain pens but that one looks so slick.

What I find stunning is how hard it is to find real onionskin paper/envelopes. There's like maybe three manufacturers of it now.

I used to have a dip pen and I loved it, especially when I was going through my pointillism/stipple phase.

Now I have this urge to write on old timey paper, with an old timey pen and seal it in an old timey fashion.

It takes a while to give it up, and you're tempted to go as a private resident to get your point across. I've given up reading the local paper and I'm much happier for it. Every once in a while I'll read it and realize that nothing has really changed in thirty years; except the names.

I did a ten year stretch on the council and two years as Mayor. Unfortunately, we may have to move out of the area because of foolish decisions by the council advised by the municipal engineer and manager...without thinking of the consequences. My propery taxes alone are $21,000.

However, the council found it necessary for the 'sake of the children' to bond for a five million dollar sports field complex with artificial turf, remote controlled scoreboard, refreshment stand, bathrooms, a playground, heated dugouts and heated PRESS BOXES. We already have several fields.

Yeah, I'm griping. I guess I haven't really given it up.

The young families tell the older residents to move if they can't afford the taxes.
I hate to say it, but we seem to have raised a horribly self-centered generation.

I guess we understand each other.

In my case, it was a 5 years (technically over this coming Jan 6th) which long story short, started out as a hell of a ride because I was the outsider of Boss Tweed group. This year, when a majority was built, we got hammered over dirty police stuff that I'm still going to be in court over.

I don't wish to move again, but you know, it could go that way, since they swept us and have a newly batch bunch of fools getting ready to take there orders.

However, lots of things change, as you well know. I was most disappointed with the apathy and intimidation of normal citizens to get behind us in public. People have no intestinal fortitude, young or old.

Out Among The Stars, A Lost Johnny Cash Album, Coming March 25, 2014

Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, is proud to announce the release of Out Among The Stars (Columbia/Legacy), a remarkable new album comprised of 12 recently discovered Johnny Cash studio recordings, on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.

The tracks on Out Among The Stars were originally recorded in Nashville, Tennessee at Columbia Studios in 1981 and 1111 Sound Studios in 1984 and produced by Billy Sherrill, the architect of the "countrypolitan" sound who was heading A&R at CBS Records Nashville at the time.

On these songs—which include duets with June Carter Cash and Waylon Jennings—Johnny worked with an expanded ensemble featuring a young Marty Stuart on guitar and mandolin and Nashville A-Team members Jerry Kennedy (guitar), Pete Drake (steel guitar), Hargus "Pig" Robbins (piano) and Henry Strzelecki (bass).

The recordings, which have never been released in any form, are not demos, outtakes or alternate versions. They remained in the vaults during the years Columbia Records released Johnny Cash's last albums for the label and were subsequently forgotten.

Probably not for the same reason. You mentioned the death of your mother in another post and the loss of your dog. I'm very sorry to hear that. While I can't relate directly to said loss I know what it's like to not be happy for long periods. In the 31 years of my life I think I've only been truly happy for a few years at a time. I've had depression and anxiety or something similar all the rest. I can't say I have any excuse either aside from genes, perhaps the way I was raised. I've spent long periods just living off my parents, no job or school.
