The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI am officially done with fall semester.
Just turned in my last final. I feel like downing about a gallon of beer, but I have to work tomorrow. So it's going to be Diet Coke and a kiss from my sweetie in celebration. I'm thinking my grade report will look like this:
Statistics: A+
Accounting: A
Commercial Law: A-
My 4.0 GPA should remain intact.
In other news, I got a decent raise and a nice bonus the other day at work. I wasn't expecting either one and I about fell out of my chair when the boss man told me what I was getting.
Steady progress: Onward!
Falling rain outside my window, but all and all, I know
It's gettin' better every day
Soon the sun will shine through my window, when it's gonna come
You know, I really couldn't say
But I know,it's gettin' better every day
Oh, it's gettin' better now, every day, yeah yeah yeah yeah
I'm a hard workin' man, doin' all that I can, tryin' to make ends meet
Just a-makin' my way through the jungle today, it's gettin' the best of me
But I know it's gettin' better, and a change is gonna come my way
Yes, I know it's gettin' better, better every day, aha yeah
I've been changin' the scene, if you know what I mean
Good things are comin' my way
Now I'm livin' my life, and I'm doin' it right
Sun shinin' every day
I can feel it gettin' better, and a change is gonna come my way
Yes I feel it gettin' better, better every day, yeah
[Solo]
Now it's only gettin' better, and a change is finally come my way
Yes it's only so much better, oh, gettin' better every day, yeah
ah yeah
gettin better
oh every day
I feel it, feel it gettin' better, It's gettin better
I'm gettin' better
I'm gettin' better

GREAT SONG!
Your card arrived today......mine go out next week...

(10,418 posts)Jen is making all of our cards this year. I think this is the first year we have sent out Christmas cards since we've been together, but I'm not sure about that. Jen teases me about my memory. It serves me well enough to get straight 'A's in college, but I often forget about dinner dates set a few days ago.

(10,418 posts)Maybe I should try a new beer this weekend in celebration. What do you suggest that I might be able to find in a small Midwest town (population around 40,000)?

(9,077 posts)It's only released every two years. If you can get Boulevard it's a must get. I got three, one to review now & two to cellar.

Merry Christmas!!!

(10,418 posts)Merry Christmas to you, and may the New Year bring you a new job. Have you heard back from any of the places where you've applied?
Locut0s
(6,154 posts)No I have yet to hear anything. However I'm not really surprised. I'm applying for sales associate positions at probably one of the worst times. Most companies gear up for Christmas some time in Oct or Nov hiring wise. It takes 2 weeks or so to properly train someone and they want to make sure they have a good base built up before the holiday season. At this point, 2 weeks, before Christmas most places already have their ducks in a row, or better have anyway if they plan not to go crazy. Doesn't help them much to hire a new guy only to train them and have them up and running, just AFTER Christmas. So I'm thinking I might not hear from anyone till January, though Jan is also the slow season. I believe my Resume and Cover Letters I've written look quite presentable so I really can just apply for more places and wait.
BTW mind if I PM you what I have for my Resume and Cover Letters, see what you think. Perhaps you might have some suggestions on improving them? No worries if you don't to at all though
Hope you have a joyous Holiday Season!
Yeah, send me a PM. I recently took a class on business writing which included resumes and such and I aced that bastard.

(14,120 posts)Beat my grade in that! I made a high B.
Tobin S.
(10,418 posts)was that there were only 100 points available for the entire grade for the course. I had to be on the ball for every assignment and every test. It's just not possible to receive a poor grade in there on a test and recover through other course work for an A. There was no extra credit offered. I went into the final having missed 5 points total for the class and I had to get 25 out of 30 points on that test just to get a 90% for the class. I think I got a 28, but I won't know for sure for a little while.

(24,931 posts)I still have to finish my Project Proposal paper and go to one more class to present my proposal.
I'll be done next week.
Just three more classes and I'm done.

(10,418 posts)What is your major? What do you plan to do when you graduate?
I can only take 3 classes a semester because of my work schedule. At the current pace I'll graduate with a degree in accounting in the summer of 2015.
geardaddy
(24,931 posts)So I can be an instructional designer.
I'm only taking one class a semester because of finances and work schedule. I hope to graduate in Spring 2015.
Sounds like you're moving right along with your degree!

(10,418 posts)That's what the professor told us in the first class. Many people say they remember stats being one of the hardest courses they took. I suppose it probably matters to some extent where your inclinations lie. I have a strong math aptitude so I excel in math oriented subjects like accounting, statistics, and economics. I'm not so good in artistic endeavors. I'm tone deaf, got no rhythm, would be hard pressed to draw a recognizable stick figure, and people usually find my attempts at poetry funny even when I'm trying to be serious.
I do have a strong appreciation for the arts, though. I'm just a terrible participant.
