I simply hate shopping. And I have no idea what to get people. And I'm sick.
So I guess it's gift cards all around.

(50,566 posts)We've cut down A LOT -- mostly we just buy for the kids in the family, but even that is overwhelming.

(16,245 posts)And I simply haven't had time to think about it all.
Now, I just don't feel well and I'm running out of time.
I wish we would do something like draw names or whatever. Then I'd only have to buy for one person. A lot easier to come up with something.

(50,566 posts)Maybe after this Xmas you can propose the name drawing thing for next year.

(2,480 posts)You can find some as cheap as 5 dollars for a year's worth of magazines.
You will need their address though.....
This year we decided no gifts - just an enjoyable Christmas eve of food and conversation

(8,217 posts)They would have made an enemy for life.
It took me so long to get rid of the Seventeen, and other craptastic magazines such as that.
I mean, I wouldn't mind it so much if it was the Modern Woodworker or an Architectural digest/art magazine, but no... I got f-in Seventeen, Glamour and stuff.
I am still wondering why and how.

(2,480 posts)I bought my brother woodworking and handyman/house type mags - those were five dollars a sub.

(8,217 posts)All I know is, they cluttered up my mailbox for a while, and kept harassing me to re-up a subscription.

(5,946 posts)and I am good at it.
For example = today I got a gift from my sister - a scented candle and a large rawhide for the dog.
I have frequently given my sister the scented candles others gave me because they make me sick and my dog has a soft mouth as I have often told her and cannot eat small rawhide, certainly not a huge bone - well, I will just regift them, the rawhide to a shelter and the scented candle to another friend.
Now what did I buy her and her husband? some fold-able storage pieces because they just moved to a smaller house and my sister occasionally works on projects that require her to make small items until she can gift them or sell them. My brother in-law has many things that are outside in the summer and need to be stored inside during the winter. When they need a box to store something, they can unfold it and used the plastic (recycled) boxes. when it is done, they can fold it up and store it. then end of tearable cardboard boxes.

(16,245 posts)I watch endless YouTube videos of cats riding on Roombas, and I think it would be very entertaining to watch my cat react. He hates the regular vacuum because it's so loud.
But they are expensive.

(25,348 posts)Gift cards say: I think enough about you to buy you something but I have absolutely NO idea what you would buy for yourself...so...Buy something YOU want!
My nephew is easy. Game Stop or Best Buy.
The rest, I'm not sure.

(19,288 posts)Needs more crap. I bought my married son's family a doghouse, last month. I'm making quilts and capes for the grandkids. That's it!
hollysmom
(5,946 posts)a friend mad me a quilt, it was too beautiful to use, I have it on my wall like a tapestry, keeps the room warmer too.

(19,288 posts)Was for the new 3 month old. So now it is being relegated to Christmas status. The capes are reversable Superman /Batman style. Very cute. My friend made up the pattern herself.
.....And she wonders why we call her Martha Stewart, behind her back.
.....cuz she'd smack us if we call her that to her face. I think it is a complement. She thinks it implicates snobbery. Get over it, my dear friend!
