(14,910 posts)We're under both a Flood Watch and a Winter Storm Watch for icing up to one half inch from late this afternoon into Sunday morning.
The last ice storm our region had cost more than $50 million in damages to property and trees.
I wish the temperature would drop and it came as snow rather than ice.
I certainly do not want to see the destruction and loss of power during the holidays due to an ice storm...
On edit: The Winter Storm Watch has been upgraded to an Ice Storm Warning through noon on Sunday.

(6,913 posts)We live in Oregon. At this time of year we get about 8 1/2 hours of sunlight a day. I watch every day as the light lasts a little longer.

(6,151 posts)But I still love winter and celebrate the winter solstice.
I think it's the National Cathedral where they hold a winter solstice midnight Mass; at the end the congregation howls like wolves - literally. So cool. Never got to go, but I used to listen to it broadcast live on NPR.
