I plan to drink cold, filtered water, and be in bed by 9pm...I have the worst gut rot ever, and just hoping I can hang on till I return Stateside..

(6,154 posts)Which country are you in. I've done a lot of traveling with my family and gut rot of one form or another isn't foreign to me. I've been lucky though I've never had it so bad it was actually debilitating or prevented me from enjoying myself. Worst case was a couple of years ago in China, a month or more of straight diarrhea, lol. But so long as I could find a toilet near by it wasn't too bad. I don't know why I never got really sick some to think of it, whenever we go to Asia I'm not all that careful about what or where I eat. Street food is one of my favourite things.

(25,485 posts)been trying to get a flight home early...but everything is more or less booked with the holiday traffic...nothing worst than feeling like crap and being far away from home...but if it gets unbearable, I will be testing out the local healthcare services..

(55,009 posts)so sorry for you
in the morning I will be going 20 miles east to see about a tire exchange and then in the afternoon 50 miles west hauling one son to Tucson and on out to visit MFM for a bit and back here to see if I can still manage to make it to midnight.
We don't party like we used to but I haven't missed a New Years midnight since I was a little kid. Have some wine and may pick up some sparkly stuff when I am running around tomorrow, a few snacks etc. Have a large stash of fireworks still, will have to light a few.
Hope you are well soon and don't have to start 2014 totally bleh.

(46,179 posts)except that I have to remember to write the date correctly the next day. Early to bed, early to rise. New Year's day? Repairing barn doors. Maybe a bit of the Rose Parade.
It's been about 15 years since I attempted to stay up until midnight. I greet the new year with the dawn.
As for "celebrating," I like to be off the road and at home on New Years, 4th of July, and any other party that gets too rowdy, too noisy, or too inebriated.

(12,389 posts)Daughter and SIL own a farm with a huge man cave type pole barn that we've been cleaning and decorating all day. Having smoked ducks, pork, oysters and shrimp flown in tomorrow.
I haven't been to a huge shindig in years. Usually I sit on the upper deck of my boat in the Keys and watch the fireworks.
I think I prefer a quiet island night but, oh well... when in Rome!

So... the owner asked me if i would mind working the door/floor for NYEve
Now mind you, i'm female, 5'5", and almost 50 yrs old. *L*
Still, i don't anticipate any ~real~ problems... 90% of our clientele are 'regulars', and i'm at least acquainted with most of them.
PLUS, i can look the proper 'do NOT fuck with me... you will not win' part when i have to.

(22,434 posts)Wow, that's a LONG time ago!
It was a big bash in the old warehouse where he had a loft apartment.
He took me up to the 4th floor where it looked like no one had been
since the 50's and we kissed at the stroke of midnight.
We've haven't been to another big New Year's party since our first child was born
in 91...just sit on the couch and watch the ball go down, share some
bubbly and kiss, and remember.
This year only one daughter will be with us. They other one is visiting
her out-of-state boyfriend.
Cheers, Everyone!
