The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsPop songs when I was growing up was filled with ballads, silly love songs, a couple of
funny songs and songs that rocked and others that made you want to dance.
Fast Forward to now and it seems that at least a quarter of the songs I hear on pop stations are, how shall I say it, I AM HERE, HEAR ME ROAR...
Anthems to the right of me, the left and front and back.
I know, I know...
But does every "Diva" have to belt out here I am, hear me roar...
Of course these ballad have been popular on stage and screen. Who could forget Babs singing on the Ferry Boat in the beginning of Funny Girl. But that was a huge part of the movie, not roaring for the sake of roaring..
It seems so calculated when everyone is doing it.

Tossed the radio because I was tired of being yelled at by the songs.
Happily, we can get music we like from a zillion places on the net.

It all sounds the same. I can't even tell the difference between artists (if that's what you want to call them).
Trash. Pure trash, most of it. With some rare exceptions.

(10,039 posts)Spanish indie music? You betcha. 60s French pop? Darn right.
The thing about music nowadays is that it's something you have to actively search for because there's so much of it. I don't pay attention to the radio/mtv. It's a waste of time.
