Certainly all the hype about legalizing pot leading to rampant crazy usage is just stupid fucking fear mongering. But I can see a small tourism industry developing in the states that legalize it catering to out of state folks looking for their first time high.

Will this be your actual first time?

I myself have never taken it in my life. Like you though I've thought of heading down to Washington just to try it legally for fun. Course here in Vancouver it's all but legal now anyway.

but being legal is sort of a big deal to me. No chance for arrest.

I'm fairly certain the Montenegrans will be trying to foist bizarre high-ABV neutral spirits on me but I don't drink.

so I won't drink very much until I get home sometime early tomorrow morning...

Aside from the fact that New Year's Eve is probably the worst time to be running around drunk, getting drunk is really kind of stupid. It's something you do in college and then, presumably, you grow up.

Drinking until I puke and fall down, and then spending the next day with a miserable hangover, would make me grumpy. Going to a party and watching a bunch of dumb drunks puke and fall down and make loud, annoying asses of themselves would make me grumpy. Getting hit and injured by a stupid drunk driver would make me *very* grumpy. A few drinks is fine but getting drunk is stupid. It's not "grumpy" to call out stupid.

I have no been sick from drinking for 20 years. So maybe we are in sync!

Drinking is highly overrated, IMHO. And hangovers are the worst!!

Its a bitch but you learn to live with it. Hell, I have enough built up from the last 43 New Years to last me through 2055.....

Some things you jut can't substitute. But I'm here, surrounded by the person who loves me most with various animals who also love me in a warm house with a full belly. I have nothing to bitch about.

Back in the day, I had my share of it, but I don't miss it at all even on a big party night like this.

Enjoy yourselves if you are drinking, but I hope you don't get hangovers. Those are nothing but a giant waste of time.

Tipsy? Yep, already there.

and will toast in the new year with a couple fingers of Laphroaig Quarter Cask but that's nowhere near drunk.

Then probably go outside and watch all the neighbors fireworks for free. I've lived in this house for almost 30 years and have never had to buy so much as a sparkler - my neighbors go to great lengths to get the good stuff --lol, it sounds like someone out there just shot their wad early...hope they left some for the stroke of midnight! (They always do).
