It's visually stunning and the story line is simple enough for the 8-year-old to follow while having a deeper meaning for the adults in the room. Or so it seemed to me, when I saw it.

It works on at least a couple of different levels.

Everybody it is old... or at least middle aged.... but there are some amusing charcters and scenes that even kids would enjoy.

I'm not sure if you can stream it yet.

My next door neighbors are in their late 30's, and they all loved it as well as the 18 year old boy, the 12 year old girl and even the 6 year old girl. Excellent film about the first fleet of convict ships to Australia for settlement and how a small group of them escape due to starvation and basic deprivations in a tiny stolen boat and make a relatively impossible journey an enormous distance across the ocean to friendly shores though they get caught by the British anyway, but the public was so moved by what they endured it caused quite an uproar during their trial (I won't say how it ends). It's based loosely on a true story as such an escape did occur, the escapees were held up as heroes willing to endure and survive incredible hardship and the odds for the sake of freedom, and there was one woman aboard by the name of Mary Bryant. The trial outcome is also portrayed accurately.

Few people seem to have heard of this movie as well, so it's likely that they haven't already seen it. When I loaned it to my next door neighbors I was really surprised they'd never heard of it since they always seem to know of and seen anything put on film in the last decade.

Classic comedy - nothing objectionable for kids, but funny enough for college kids.

Couldn't lose with that one...

A Blake Edwards comedy, about the New York - Paris race in 1906 (IIRC) - the hero"s car is a pretty good replica of the actual winner the Thomas Flyer, Tony Curtis is our stalwart hero, Jack Lemmon sneers as "Professor Fate", the food fight is epic!

Renee Zellweger is the lead. A really good movie, my daughter who is 30-something and I watched just a few days ago. As soon as it was done, she watched it over again.

It was free on Amazon Prime, if you have that.

is a favorite of my family's. All the adults and children love it, including my two-year-old great-granddaughter.
