:grumble: ::broken furnace:: :grumble:

Sent the girls down to the in-laws with the wood stove.

In the meantime awaiting on a service call. They unfortunately couldn't give me a lead time due to the backlog of emergency calls overnight.

I've watched several YouTube videos, however it seems to be something electrical with one of the several boards..

40 degrees here this morning. Indoors!

:grumble:

Good morning, Lounge!

Turn every spigot in your house to drip or slow-run. (This should keep the pipe from freezing.)

Close every door to an unused/vacant room, block the cracks at the bottoms of the doors with towels. (This will keep the heat generated by the next one in the occupied spaces.)

Turn on the oven. Bake. Make a roast. Whatever. It should generate enough BTUs to warm a couple hundred occupied square feet to a cold but not miserable temperature. (60'F-ish.)

You should be warm in sweaters in the kitchen until the furnace technician arrives.

(I grew up on the side of a mountain in rural CT. You get to know these things because a bad storm might mean half-a-week-or-more of no power and unpassable roads.)

We were almost in the same boat! The service guy talked my husband through what-to-do over the phone, and it worked. There was some kind of switch that needed flippin'! Our temps went down below zero last night.
